| GMAA Division 1
Championship Bantam Girls’ volleyball team won the tournament by
beating Royal West Academy. Coached by Gail Stanworth and Carl Brown
and supported by parents, these girls showed what good coaching and
hard work can accomplish. |

StoryFest Author, Anthony De Sa,
inspires Westwood Senior Students

On
October 5th, Grade 11 students welcomed Canadian author,
Anthony De Sa, to the library at Westwood Senior. This
fall, they studied his first novel Barnacle Love,
a finalist for the Giller Prize. His captivating stories
of growing up in Toronto’s Portuguese community,
teaching high school English classes and writing late
into the night, led to an animated discussion about what
it takes to publish an award winning novel and become a
successful writer. |

His advice to aspiring
young writers? Write when you feel inspired. Thank you
